Kyle Hicks

Kyle Hicks came into this world bringing great joy to all who loved him.

From early age, Kyle lived life with enthusiasm, humor, love, kindness, and thoughtfulness to others. Kyle enjoyed school and had great friendships through every stage of life. Kyle had an incredible work ethic. If he wanted something, he set a goal and he set out to earn it. When he signed up for a task, he gave it his all. Kyle was a natural mechanic; he could fix anything. He was generous in sharing his mechanical talents with those in need. He worked for Chick-fil-a and excelled in every new challenge. He worked his way up to General Manager. Our favorite stories of Kyle while at Chick-fil-a, are of him recognizing those that could benefit from some kindness. Example, on a miserable, rainy day, when Kyle noticed a young mom trying to usher her kids from the car to inside, Kyle rushed out with an umbrella to keep them dry. He did the same with the elderly. Kyle was all about – helping others. Recognizing a need and serving. At age 30, Kyle achieved a long-time goal of becoming a police officer. Officer Kyle Hicks – Corpus Christi Police Department.

Kyle lived his life fully immersed in service of others. He began his working career as an employee of Chick-fil-a, where he met his soulmate, Cassie. In an instant, divine connection, the two found a home within the other and so the love story goes. Marriage and children quickly followed; the two joined as one on May 3, 2014 in Arlington, Texas in the perfect backyard wedding attended by close friends and family. Kyle and Cassie were blessed with four children over the next 7 years. Four precious blessings that he loved immensely. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world and he was incredibly proud of his four kids.

Kyle was a compassionate, honest person with strong moral principles; a man of full body and mind and integrity. He was quiet in nature; spoke when he was spoken to. He had a unique sense of humor and lived life freely; reminding those he loved that we must enjoy every minute we share together and to not take it all to serious.

Kyle served on the CCPD for 2 years. On April 20, 2024, in his last act as a police officer, Kyle selflessly rushed into harm's way to save the life of a stranger who had called 9-1-1. He was shot and, four days later, succumbed to his injuries on April 24, 2024.

In Kyle's final act of giving - he donated his beautiful heart and other organs; offering life to those praying for their miracle.

Kyle left a legacy of kindness, positivity and a genuine concern for others; a life of putting others first - whether it was fixing someone's car or giving them a listening ear. Your day was always a bit brighter if you spent time with Kyle. He loved life and gave each day his best.

We could share many stories of our incredible, beautiful son. What we want you to know about our son is he made his life count. He was so loved, and he loved well. Whatever Kyle did, signed up for, whatever job, task, project – Kyle gave it his best. He enjoyed his life. He lived well. He loved music, taught himself to play the guitar. He loved Legos and Star Wars his entire life. He shared all 3 of these passions with his kids. His wife and children meant everything to him and there wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for them. Kyle’s legacy is that of a person who was kind, considerate, fun, loving, hardworking, reliable, generous, and confident. He was an incredible son, brother, husband, father, and we thank God for our 32 years with our son.

"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

- Matthew 5:16
